There are approximately 1,947 other things that I should be doing right now, but, of course, I’m going to procrastinate instead. I was looking for a new book to start reading yesterday and I realized that I hadn’t shared my latest books! I’ve actually gotten a handful of questions lately about the books I’ve been reading and what movies I recommend, so I thought I’d give a quick recap of allllll the entertainment I’ve consumed over the past few months (Q1 for all you corporate-minded people 😉 ). Books, movies, TV shows, oh my!
What I’ve been reading… Just like last year, I’m following along with the Modern Mrs. Darcy Reading Challenge! If a book fits within the challenge, I’ll be sure to make note of it.
Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis (2018 Reading Challenge – “A memoir, biography, or creative nonfiction”)
I found Rachel Hollis in 2016 and have been enthralled by her ever since. I love her brand, her cookbook (Upscale Downhome), and all that she stands for. This memoir is honest and real and in-your-face in the best way. Hollis is full of tough love and pushes you to be your best, regardless of your circumstances. Would definitely recommend this to women of all ages!
The Sacred Enneagram by Christopher L. Heuertz
I can’t say enough about the Enneagram. I’m so intrigued by all that this personality tool encompasses. The Enneagram is a 9-point diagram that includes the typology of nine interconnected personality types – it’s SO interesting! This book gives a thorough description of each type in layman’s terms, so it doesn’t read like a textbook. I can’t say enough great things about this!!
I stumbled upon this series because they were free on Kindle and I was pleasantly surprised! The books can definitely stand alone, but I enjoyed reading them as a series. The characters are interconnected in unique ways that I didn’t anticipate. These are all quick, simple reads that I flew through – perfect for a beach vacation!
The Versions of Us by Laura Barnett
This book is a #1 Bestseller in the UK and the cover caught my attention, so I decided to give it a try. It took me a while to understand what was going on, but once I got a grip on how it was written, I enjoyed it! The Versions of Us follows three story lines about the same two people (the versions of their relationship, get it?). The writing style almost made it feel as if I was reading three different books which kept me entertained!
What movies I’ve been watching… At the beginning of the year, I had to travel a few times for work and we’re required to fly on American Airlines. While I’m not the biggest fan of AA, I am a huge fan of their in-flight entertainment. I usually don’t watch a lot of movies, but thanks to American, I was able to watch more in two months than I usually do in a year! Not going to give a full review, but I’ll include a quick rating for ya!
- All the Money in the World – 4/5
- The Glass Castle – 3/5
- Brigsby Bear – 3/5
- The House – 0/5 (seriously, don’t watch this)
- The Florida Project – 3.5/5
- The Shape of Water – 4/5
- Call Me By Your Name – 4/5
- The Grand Budapest Hotel – 3.5/5
- The Darkest Hour – 3.5/5
- Pitch Perfect 3 – 2/5
What TV shows I’ve been watching… I will 100% admit that I cannot quit Grey’s Anatomy. Say whatever you want about it but I will watch it until the very last episode. That being said, I need some variety in my life, so we started a few new shows this season!
Sneaky Pete – an Amazon Prime MUST WATCH! We blew through both seasons in like 4 days or something embarrassing…
Station 19 – new show about a fire station in Seattle. Aka a spin-off from Grey’s Anatomy so of course I’m hooked.
Sorry for the overload, I’ll try to be better about sharing more often… Don’t forget to share your suggestions, pretty please!
